To promote tolerance and historical perspective through the preservation and interpretation of the immigrant experience on the Lower East Side.
The Tenement Museum preserves a 19th-century Lower East Side tenement building and tells the stories of the immigrant and migrant families who lived there. Through tours, education programs, and advocacy, it connects America's past to the immigrant experience of today.
