About

To create a more ecologically sustainable New York City through composting, e-waste recycling, and community environmental education.

Founded in 1987, the Lower East Side Ecology Center runs NYC's largest composting program, e-waste recycling drop-offs, and environmental stewardship in East River Park. Hundreds of volunteers help collect compost at farmers markets and green spaces across lower Manhattan.
